Partner Meetings
Most investment firms have a weekly meeting where the investment professionals and partners in the firm gather to discuss deals. Items of business in these partner meeting typically include:
- Capital planning--planning how and when to call capital from Limited Partners and how much to reserve to invest in existing portfolio companies
- Discussion about pipeline--this is discussion about new companies that are being evaluated
- Discussion about diligence--this is a discussion of deals that are in due diligence
- Management team meetings--this is when a management team of a potential portfolio company comes in to meet the entire firm
- Approval of term sheets--this is the approval of any term sheets that are issued
- Approval of funding--this is the approval of any funding of companies that occurs
- Portoflio updates--this occurs when the management team of a portfolio company or the lead partner representing the portfolio company provides the firm with an update on the company's progress
- Approval of exits--this occurs when a company is facing a liquidity event. The partnership discusses and ultimately approves the terms of the liquidity event.
